On July 22nd 2014 Micheal received a diagnosis that would change his life forever, following his six month vaccination shots doctors had discovered that he has a rare disease known as Dravet Syndrome. Children like Micheal who contract this disease require 24 hour medical care including around the clock medications, a feeding tube, and a wheelchair for mobility.
Micheal requires medication to prevent seizures, has a back brace to support his back, and a bipap machine to sleep at night. Despite the new challenges introduced into Micheals life he is consistently supported by a team of 4-5 care providers that enable him to continue attending school. Throughout all his struggles Micheals smile continues to shine brightly.
Aurelia began MikesPlayground Corperation in 2021 after witnessing the lack of resources available to her disabled grandson and wanting to make a difference in both her daughters and grandson's life. She took up the responsibility of becoming a full time care provider and fought for access to the necessary resources to keep her grandson alive and smiling.
Aurelia was born in San Francisco California, as the youngest of five siblings where she learned the core values of responsibility and the importance of helping others. For over 28 years Aurelia was employed at State Farm where she built discipline and developed empathy for those around her, now Aurelia uses her abilities for the greater good of the community.
